Mike and I were lucky enough to spend three days in Sydney at the end of November.
Without the kids.
Seriously.
Without the kids!
Our first holiday alone in six years.
That's pretty sad I know, but let's just say it was worth the wait.
Bronte beach pool was amazing.
More amazing, actually shocking and worrying, was that young men were throwing themselves off the white picketed fence into the pool below which was only about three foot deep. They were doing belly flops, but my heart was in my mouth thinking that I was going to witness a horrible spinal injury at any moment.
My handsome hubby.
Shoes?
Did someone say shoes?
Nope.
I didn't see any shoes.
None at all.
Move along people, no shoes to be seen here...
We arrived home mid morning on Tuesday and at that point we realised that there was something seriously wrong with Mike's elbow.
It had been getting sorer and sorer throughout the holiday but when it started swelling up on the plane we knew trouble was a brewin'.
A night in hospital, IV antibiotics and a prescription for hardcore antibiotic to take at home, was what ensued. A staph infection. His arm was the size of a football, in fact it looked just like Popeye's. I really wish I had taken a picture of it.
Anyhoo, that was the price we paid for our little trip.
Ha.
The kids had a ball with my mum. And Ma was pleasantly surprised at how much fun she had and offered to do it all again.
Yippee.
I am already putting together an itinerary.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am full steam ahead with Christmas pressies, although I keep having this recurring nightmare about somehow pushing my finger under the needle of my sewing machine and sewing through my fingernail.
What is that about?
I am going bunting crazy again.
I can't stop making it.
Here is some I made for one of Matilda's little friends.
And some for my friend's little girl.
And everyone needs some festive bunting for the house.
This isn't bunting, it's the quilt I am making for Ma for Xmas.Oh, and the one I am doing for Mike's scary scary Nonna.
And here's a bit of the Advent calender I still haven't finished.
And that's about it for now.
No pressure or anything to get it all finished by next week......what the?
How are all your Christmas preparations coming along?
I am having some friends over on the weekend and I thought I would cook a whole turkey, cos I have never done that before, and seriously, how hard could it be?
Well, duh, have you seen HOW BIG TURKEYS ARE??
They are HUGE!
Seriously, if I were to cook one of those suckers we would be eating it for the rest of the year.
I've only got 6 adults and 6 kids coming over - we would really really be eating it forever.
So that begs the question, how many people would it take to eat a Turducken?
(you know, a turkey stuffed with a duck stuffed with a chicken)
And what kind of sick puppy thought of that in the first place?
Psycho.
